The items listed hereinafter are hereby made a part of the
contract for the above mentioned project and shall govern the work taking
precedence over previously issued contract documents governing the items
mentioned. Receipt of this addendum is
to be acknowledged on page OF-10 of the proposer’s packet.
Bid opening date has been changed to
July 17, 2009
at 2:00 PM.
The
following questions were submitted prior to the deadline date of July 24, 2009.
1. Is an Intent to Bid required for this project?
A. No.
2. Existing metal doors? Please advise on how this will be handled-very little area to trim and front glass door may have to be replaced.
1) 3 entry glass/metal doors clearance concern
due to 3/8” tile + mortar = ˝”.
2) 7 interior metal doors will have same problem
since they are close to existing carpet and laminated
floor.
3) 2 marble restroom thresholds will need to be
raised due to floor height in corridor.
A. Contractor is responsible to adjust, or replace with
equal, any existing materials originally scheduled to remain, necessary to
accept the new work.
3. Existing modular
furniture/excess furniture in storage room.
Does this need to be reassembled after carpet removed?
A. Contractor is responsible to return modular furniture and
excess furniture to the same locations and in the same condition prior to
relocation by the contractor.
4. Existing
furniture/stuff in contractors shop storage area be pulled away from walls for
new wall work?
A. Contractor to move and return as required to complete the
work.
5. Existing ceramic
tile/cove base along walls in restrooms-both damaged & non-damaged. Will it be removed entirely from floor to 24”
up along all wall areas or marked by architect which walls have existing Dura
rock/tile that doesn’t need to be changed?
A. Refer to project specifications section 01100 Project
Requirements, paragraphs 1.01, 2.c and 2.e. for clarification, it can be
assumed by the contractor that restroom walls with ceramic tile wainscots or
higher have cement backer board and will remain in place. Spot replacement material must exactly match
existing.
6. Can office
furniture be stored temporarily in corner of hanger during carpet/tile
removal-new ceramic tile installation?
A. No.
7. Have there been
any results of asbestos containing materials at the project site? If so, what actions will contractor need to
make?
A. No ACM.
8. What type of
Corian countertops (color) will be used at the secretary and facility
maintenance area?
A. Color to be selected from price Group B per Project
Specifications section 06200 Finish carpentry, paragraph 2.03, B.1.
9. Will painting of
interior and exterior walls extend above the required patching area?
A. Yes, refer to project specifications section 01100
project requirements paragraph 1.01, 8.a and section 09901 painting. If exterior work occurs, re-painting must
occur on the entire surface plane from top to bottom, corner to corner.

NOTICE TO BIDDERS
SEALED BIDS for furnishing labor,
materials, tools and equipment for "BUILDING 825, C-26 HANGAR INTERIOR RENOVATION, WHEELER
AAF, STATE OF
Proposed
work consists of, but not limited to the following: remove and replace floor, wall, ceiling materials and casework damaged
by flooding and/or mold.
The
estimated cost is between $200,000
and $400,000.
A Site Visit will be held on June
23, 2009 at 1:00pm. Contractors
are to meet Mr. Stanley Keolanui at the entrance to building 825 on

of bidding documents and/or specifications must be received in the office

fide bidders may obtain copies of applicable specifications and bidding

Bidders

Bidders

REQUIREMENT FOR CONTRACTORS LICENSING CLASSIFICATIONS
Due to the nature of the work
contemplated bidder must possess a valid State of
General
Engineering Contractors holding an ‘A’ license and General Building Contractors
holding a ‘B’ license are reminded that due to the Hawaii Supreme Court’s
January 28, 2002 decision in Okada Trucking Co., Ltd. v. Board of Water
Supply, et al., 97 Haw. 450 (2002), they are prohibited from undertaking
any work, solely or as part of a larger project, which would require the
General Contractor to act as a specialty Contractor in any area in which the
General Contractor has no license.
Bidders
are solely responsible to review the project requirements, determine the
appropriate licenses required, and ensure that they possess and that the
Subcontractor(s) listed in their OFFER
