following are questions that were submitted by the due date of May 29, 2009.
1. Does the
security company bidding need to be licensed in the state of

2. How many
locations will guard service be required at?
A.
Locations where guards are required are listed in Special Provision For
Furnishing Security Guard Services under Paragraph 3.
3. Is the
service armed or unarmed?
A. Security
Guard service is unarmed.
4. How many
weekly hours is the service for and how many officers per shift?
A. Hours and number of guards required are
listed by site in the Special Provision For Furnishing Security Guard Services
under Paragraph 3.
5. What
equipment is required – vehicles, golf carts, radios, phones, deggy
system, etc?
A. Equipment is listed in the Special Provision
For Furnishing Security Guard Services (see Paragraph 15a-c); Motor Vehicle requirement (see Paragraph
6a-c).
6. Does the
wage rate of $17.56 on page 2 #5 of the Special Provision of Furnishing
Security Guard Services section include for: FICA, SUTA, FUTA, TDI, WC, GL, and
Medical costs?
A.
The $17.56 is the hourly rate that must be paid to the guards.
7. Do we
include GET with our bid prices?
A. Yes, Your Bid price should include all cost.

NOTICE TO BIDDERS
SEALED BIDS for furnishing labor,
materials, tools and equipment for “SECURITY GUARD SERVICES FOR ISLANDS OF OAHU, AND HAWAII, STATE OF
Proposed
work consists of, but not limited to the following: Provide Security Guard services.
The
estimated cost is between $800,000
and $1,200,000.
Bona
fide bidders may obtain copies of applicable specifications and bidding
documents at the above-named office.
All
requests for clarification of bidding documents and/or specifications must be
received in the office listed above, in writing, before May 29, 2009. Questions
may be faxed to 808-733-4235 Attn: Cathy.
Bidders
are encouraged to register on the new Vendor Compliance web site for all tax
clearances by going to http://vendors.ehawaii.gov
and registering there.
Bidders
are responsible for checking for any addenda for this project. The addenda will be posted on the State &
County Procurement Notices web site under the project name at:
http://www2.hawaii.gov/bidapps/.
REQUIREMENT FOR CONTRACTORS LICENSING CLASSIFICATIONS
Due to the nature of the work
contemplated bidder must possess a valid State of
General
Engineering Contractors holding an ‘A’ license and General Building Contractors
holding a ‘B’ license are reminded that due to the Hawaii Supreme Court’s
January 28, 2002 decision in Okada Trucking Co., Ltd. v. Board of Water
Supply, et al., 97 Haw. 450 (2002), they are prohibited from undertaking
any work, solely or as part of a larger project, which would require the General
Contractor to act as a specialty Contractor in any area in which the General
Contractor has no license.
Bidders
are solely responsible to review the project requirements, determine the
appropriate licenses required, and ensure that they possess and that the
Subcontractor(s) listed in their OFFER
