"Death is the natural end of our lives. When
we prepare for death, we can ease the pains of dying for ourselves
and for our loved ones."
Death is the ultimate taboo. No one wants to think about death, much less talk about it. Yet dying is a natural part of life. Recognizing this helps us improve the quality of our lives. The first crucial step is to explore what we each may want - and don't want- to happen.
Care at the end of life may involve difficult choices. Often, issues are not addressed until a crisis forces an impromptu discussion. We hope that the information you find on these pages will help you to begin to think about and learn what options exist. And we hope that you will talk about it with loved ones so no one needs to make uninformed decisions in a crisis.
If you work with older adults, we encourage you to think about you can build end-of-life issues into your work so that a true continuum of care is created.
